Mister Freedom Frontier Chinos

Announced at Mister Freedom’s website almost two months ago, this doesn’t really count as news. However, while waiting for a walk through of the Buckaroos Waist Overalls we had a closer look at the Frontier Chinos, the first installment of the fall 2012 Mister Freedom x Sugar Cane “Men of the Frontier” collection. If you insist on wearing anything other than five pockets, this is what we would recommend.

 Mister Freedom Frontier Chinos

Proudly cut and sewn in Los Angeles by skilled workers in a clean and solid American factory, the chinos are available in two limited batches of raw and sanforized new old stock American made selvage denim. Type A is a 12 oz. black line 3×1 twill with a regular five pocket-type denim feel. Type B is a 10 oz. blue line 2×1 twill that feels more like a lighter USN denim dungaree. The construction and pattern are inspired by lightweight twill work chino uniforms of the 30s and 40s with a reminiscent of the late 50s Ivy League slacks, with a slimmer leg, fitted seat and mid rise. Mister Freedom opted for a ‘tailor shop’ look and left the bottom open, which will also make it much easier for you to get them hemmed. The un-cuffed inseam is about 37 ½’’.

Mister Freedom Frontier Chinos Mister Freedom Frontier ChinosOther specs include; metal ‘Deco’ riveted waist and fly buttons in a gun metal colour; vintage French cinch back strap; a combination of wide and slim belt loops; flat felled seam inseam and busted side seam; front slash pockets with concealed selvage openings; a traditional 100% cotton unbleached Sail cloth used for pocket bags and lining; and all black 100% cotton thread construction.

Mister Freedom Frontier ChinosFor the American customers, the Frontier Chinos come in an old school cardboard box with original MF artwork. Mister Freedom would like you to re-use it. The chinos are unwashed, but as the denim is sanforized shrinkage is minimised to 1%~2% in length and width. They are cut true to size, meaning that a tagged waist 32 actually measures about 32’’. If you are a 32’’ waist, you need a tagged 32. However, notice that the Sail cloth shrinks slightly more than the denim, which gives it a nice roping effect.
