The trend of experimenting with “treatments” to get unique fadings has reached Australia. Inspired by Martin who threw his Edwin jeans in a Danish river for three months, Daniel Jacobs from Port Hacking south of central Sydney shorten the period to three weeks when his soaked his Nudie dry selvage Regular Ralfs in the salty Port Hacking River that flows to the Pacific Ocean. Daniel dived to place the jeans under water, anchored them by a rock and then waited.
Daniel had had the jeans sitting in his cupboard for years, and he had never washed or worn them. This is what they looked like prior to the experiment.
Hoping to get some good fadings, Daniel had them bundled up with rope.
The salt water with its currents, coral and seaweed not to mention the marine life all added some interesting characteristics to Daniel’s Nudies. After three weeks under the sea this is what he pulled ashore.
The indigo really comes out and there are some interesting marks on the back pocket and front of the jeans. According to Daniel, the denim has become super soft, almost as if he had have been wearing them for a while.
