In the fashion industry the impasse between the two seasons is usually synonymous with previews, sample sales and outlets. In that spirit, a fashion flea market was held on the first sunday of November and behind one of the stalls was mr. Euroman, fashion editor Frederik Andersen, one of the most dedicated Levi’s Vintage Clothing collectors in Denmark, who sold treasures from his wardrobe.

Frederik was wearing a pair of A.P.C. jeans combined with these Clarks x Beams Desert Boots.

After talking about denim for a few hours, I decided to take home a pair of Levi’s 501 jeans from 1983 and a Type III Slim Fit Trucker jacket, made in the Valencia Street factory.
The 1983 is no longer part of Levi’s Vintage Clothing line-up. The fabric is the last Cone Mills Redline Selvage used by Levi’s (before LVC of course) it has a very smooth surface, which resembles the Kaihara fabric used 505 model. Regarding details the similarity with present 501s is striking. The jeans have “small e” Red Tab, no hidden rivets, the hem stitching is some millimeters higher than the previous models, the lemon-coloured thread is not to find anywhere and the buttons are polished blank. As for the fit, however, the 1983 is one of the widest of the 501s since the models from the 1930s.

The hem is chain stitched, the inseam is single-felled og the back pockets have single stitches.

What really excitd me was the Type III Slim Fit Trucker jacket sewn at the Valencia Street factory in San Francisco, which was closed in 2002.
