The very satisfied winner of the Meadow competition, René Hagemann when he picked up his prize last week. Of course he brought the winning pair of jeans. René chose a pair of Levi’s Vintage Clothing 1878 Pantaloons, see how they fit below.
Today is the big day where one lucky jeans wearer is going to be duly rewarded the patience and hard work it takes to wear in a pair of dry denim jeans. And the winner is: René Hagemann for his “Decades of Dedication.” Revisit the highlights of his collection and see the winning pair of jeans below.
This post sums up the competition with Meadow, and here you’ll find all the contestants listed by entry date. Who do you think’s the best candidate? You can also read more about each pair of jeans under the subcategory “contestants.”
Running the risk of having forgotten someone (as we’ve received so many emails), this is the last contestant in the Meadow competition. This pair of Nudie Average Joe Dry Organic jeans have a very special history, told in the exact word of their wearer, Mike Keaveney who apparently is quite the storyteller.
This is the story of Andreas, he’s 18 years old and lives in Malmö where he attends Bryggeriets skateboarding college. He has been skating for 6 years. His Wrangler BEN jeans have got a lot of beatings when he skated in them almost everyday last summer in Fælledparken. They have only been washed once during the seven months Andreas has been wearing them.
Here’s a pair of Levi’s 503 that have been worn in by Mats Vikell (a.k.a. Muts von Slims). Mats describes them as, “probably the best pants I’ve ever have had the pleassure to get to know.” He got them as a present back in 2004 and the only thing he wasn’t completely satisfied about was the zip fly. But anyway, Mats and the pants have traveled the world, been to partys, spend many hours on the garage floor, and the only place they haven’t spent too much time is in the washing machine.
Here’s something Danish for the Meadow competition. A pair of Norse Projects Two jeans that were bought for about 13 months ago by Søren Habekost. He rinsed them after 8 month and washed them for the first time not more than two week ago, when he couldn’t stand the smell anymore. They are used more or less per day, since the purchase, however, only for casual wear, as Søren’s must wear a uniform when he’s working as a UPS driver. But they have been worn plenty on his Honda motorcycle.
This is the second pair of Naked & Famous Skinny Guy jeans in the Meadow competition, this one is the “Natural Indigo Selvage.” They have been worn in by 25-year-old Simon Hedman, who’s originally from Malmö Sweden, but for the past 2 years he studied and performed music in Los Angeles. Now he’s back in Malmö where he recently opened a vintage and secondhand store called Reused 10.01 with my brother Carl Johan. Very soon you’ll be able to read more about his store here on Denimhunter.
Simon bought the jeans back in Brooklyn, New York on the 8th of March 2011, and he has worn them everyday since with love and patient. He has never washed them, but patched them up several times.
Micke Fält who’s the owner/co-founder of Malmö based heritage brand ROOKTOWN sent me some pictures of his ”allmost” worn in Lee 101B Hair on Hide for the ”win a pair of jeans from Meadow”-competition. He bought the jeans in the year 2002, and they’ve never been washed. More like this please.
You can read more about ROOKTOWN in the review of Meadow.
