RM designed and crafted footwear, clothing and leather accessories for the jackaroos (Australian for cowboys) who lived and worked in outback Australia. In other words, it was originally a workwear brand in Australia.

Over time, the company interests have significantly diversified and grown and the brand is strongly associated with Australia’s national identity, outback heritage and pioneering spirit. Also, everything is still made in Australia and the brand presents a wide range of leathers including kangaroo, ostrich and crocodile. However, these leathers are rather expensive and most boots are sold with yearling calf leather. The yearling calf gives the strongest yet smoothest and finest leather there is. Additionally, all boots are made with a Goodyear welted construction.

    Nice write up on an iconic Australian brand. To date RM still makes really fantastic boots and these are the back bone of the companies rep. They used to be synonomous with equally famous garments however the brand direction has struggled in the past decade and many bad decisions has led to a line that may meet the approval of a less decerning audience but has done much to damage brand heritage. They would do well to reignite a focus of the values that made them an Australian classic.

      The boots are of the highest quality, great looking, and amazingly comfortable. Have four pairs and can’t wait to buy my next pair. The clothes, however, would not be out of place hanging on a rack in WalMart! Awful styling that could only appeal to a man or woman, who think they look cool in “Mom” or “Dad” jeans.
