The Danish market for high-end denim is made up of a small community of enthusiasts who often speak an incomprehensible language and dwells on the small and seemingly insignificant details about the products. A fact that is reflected in the number of shops that specialises in this niche. There is nothing wrong with that: Denmark is a small country and the buying criteria of most customers has long been focused around parameters such as price and brand rather than quality and craftsmanship. But this behaviour is currently changing. While we wait the abundant possibilities online in the virtual denim universe must do. This is a selection of some of the best.
Blue In Green – One of the world’s leading suppliers of Japanese denim outside Japan. From the list of brands one could mention brands like Suger Cane & Co., Monotaro, Skull Jeans, Warehouse, Samurai, Evisu, Denime, Pure Blue Japan, Oni Denim, Studio D’Artisan, The Real McCoy’s, and their own label. Self Edge – One of those webshops you just keep visiting. Their physical stores are found in San Francisco, Los Angeles and New York. Self Edge carries Roy, Iron Heart, The Flat Head, Imperial Denim, Nudie, R.J.B, Mister Freedom, 3sixteen, Dry Bones and many more.
Meadow – The absolute best and most nerdy shop in Malmö, Sweden. In Meadow you’ll find jeans from brands like Denim Demon, Levi’s Vintage Clothing, Lee, Blue Bell, Indigofera, Pace og Edwin. Read more about Meadow here.
Sivletto – Rock ‘n roll and lots of pomade: this is a genuine rockabilly-hangout. At Sivletto they only sell unwashed jeans and the shop is specialised in brands like Lee, Carhartt, Red Kap, Levis Vintage Clothing, Indigofera, Pace og Pike Brothers. On the Sivletto webshop you’ll also find most of what’s in the Unionville shop.
Oi Polloi – One of Britain’s leading fashion shops located in Manchester. Here you’ll find a reasonable selection of denim brands including A.P.C, Albam, Edwin, Lee 101, Levi’s Vintage Clothing, and Nudie.
oki-ni – The webshop was established in September 2001 og it was originally both gallery and shop. At oki-ni they focus on “limited editions” and the shop has previously done exclusive collaborations with brands like Adidas, Levi’s, Paul Smith, and Porter. From the webshop you can get Acne, Evisu, Lee 101, Levi’s Vintage Clothing, NN.07, Our Legacy, and Prps.
Cultizm – This Munich based webshop has specialised in high-end denim from brands like Denham, The Stronghold, Lee, Edwin, Nudie, Levi’s Vintage Clothing, and Indigofera.
Caliroots – The Swedish webshop was one of the first places I saw Cheap Monday some 7-8 years ago. Today their C-Store with “Premiun Goods” is what interests me. Here you’ll find Levi’s Vintage Clothing, Monotaro, Studio D’Artisan, Han Kjøbenhavn, Spellbound, Warehouse, Denim Demon, and Indigofera.
Superdenim – A British webshop and supplier of brands like Tender, Studio D’Artisan, The Real McCoy’s, Lee og Levi’s Vintage Clothing. The people behind the shop are European agents of Studio D’Artisan, The Real McCoy’s and Canadian Viberg Boots.
Aero Leathers – A webshop dedicated to iconic garments from the 20th century. In addition to their own leather goods like the Front Quarter Horsehide leather jacket and RAF, USN og USAAF Military Flying jacket, the selection includes authentic denim goods from Lee, Levi’s Vintage Clothing og Blue Bell.
