P1040464 628x419 Show Review: MeadowAt the corner of Östra Rönneholmsvägen and Jörgen Ankersgatan you’ll find the undisputedly coolest denim shop in Malmö. Meadow opened in October 2008 and is owned and run by the two denim enthusiasts Christopher and Peter. As every jeans store in Malmö started focusing mainly on chinos, they decided to take the matter into their own hands and opened a genuine denim store. Christopher had previously worked for other denim retailers, while Peter had studied design and is Meadows in-house tailor.

Especially on the original brands like Levi’s, Wrangler, and Lee, and younger brands that have something special to offer. And since I visited the shop last time in April 2011, they gotten a new wooden floor in the shop.

P1040481 628x471 Show Review: MeadowNew brand in the shop this spring is Rooktown. Based in Malmö, the only materials used for the products are original vintage items or pieces from the Swedish army. The t-shirts for instance are deadstock from the 1960s, the quality is simple amazing, they truly don’t make it like they used to.

Later this spring Momotaro jeans will also hit the shelfs, and for the fall you’ll be able to find brands like Ebbets Fields Flannels, Gitman Bros, Viberg Boots, and Mister Freedom in Meadow.

The wardrobe is still full of denim goodies and Red Wing boots. Meadow is filled with authentic props like the classic Levi’s sign, Buddy Lee dolls, the Blue Bell-bell, and much, much more. In addition, the interior is also largely characterized by authenticity and the inventory include the old wardrobe above, a jukebox and totally raw and ”naked” walls.

Have a seat in the chair, put on an old record on the jukebox, open a bottle of wine from “the cellar”, close the curtains, and just relax.

Thomas got into denim through a keen interest in manufacturing and a love for the well-faded jean. He's based in Copenhagen, Denmark, but he travels as much as his job allows. Through Denimhunters he has found a way to share his passion with likeminded enthusiasts while learning more about the blue fabric. Thomas' favourite jean is the 1947 501XX and he has a soft spot for Red Wing Shoes.
