Another shot of the enviously gorgeous worn in Levi’s jeans of the Danish brand strategist, Allan Kruse. Stopping by the office the other day to share some of his vast knowledge of the history of fashion, especially about how Japan has always been lightyears ahead of the rest of us, Allan sported a Porter X Beams fishermans hat, replica MA-1 jacket, worn in (from dry) Levi’s Vintage Clothing 1947 501XX and his trusted Red Wing 2268 Engineer boots.
The 1947 501XX is often referred to as the quintessential five-pocket jean with its slim fitting top block, belt loops as the only measure of support, diamond arcuates, leather Two-Horse patch, and the list goes on. This particular pair is similarly one of the corner stones in my personal collection and essential to my relationship to Levi’s Vintage Clothing. The jeans were produced around the turn of the century at the Valencia Street facilities and as far as I recall I acquired them in 2008 at the neat sum of DKK 400 (approximately $70) in complete deadstock condition – quite a steal it was. Now they’ve been retired to sit in the jeans collection that we are establishing in Brund, much more on that later.
If you’re a denim lover like me, New York City has probably found it’s way to the top of your favourite must-go-to-destinations-list if you haven’t been there yet. I finally went this summer to enjoy some vacation time with my girlfriend, but also to visit some for denim shops I had heard so much about. And based on all the recommendations I had gotten from friends my expectations were sky high and I found just what I was looking for; shrink-to-fit Levi’s jeans.
One of the most important parametres for choosing the participants for our Levi’s Vintage Clothing Wear & Tear Project was to get people with different backgrounds, and what better than a real biker. We found him in the Wrenchmonkees garage in Copenhagen and this is his story.
Meadow in Malmö has four pairs of Levi’s Vintage Clothing 1947 501 jeans are in display, just as a way to show customer which amazing and stunningly beautiful results your can get from wearing in a pair of dry jeans. Even though the jeans will not be competing in the competition, I wanted to show you how ten years of constant wear can make four pairs of jeans just about any denim enthusiast a little envy and fascinated.
