SESF Front 01 Shop Review: Self Edge   San FranciscoJust north of San Francisco the old defense batteries, that was build on Marin Headlands during World War II tells tales of the fear of a Japanese attack on the all important harbor and city on the American west coast.

Little did they know that the Japanese invasion wouldn’t hit the Levi Strauss hometown until more than 50 years later, and that it would hit in the very same street that used to be home of the Levi’s factory, Valencia Street in Mission District. Fortunately it didn’t come in any violent form, but in the shape of a small shop loaded with state-of-the-art Japanese denim. The name of the shop is Self Edge.

 Mister Freedom Frontier Chinos

Announced at Mister Freedom’s website almost two months ago, this doesn’t really count as news. However, while waiting for a walk through of the Buckaroos Waist Overalls we had a closer look at the Frontier Chinos, the first installment of the fall 2012 Mister Freedom x Sugar Cane “Men of the Frontier” collection. If you insist on wearing anything other than five pockets, this is what we would recommend.

“This is a store for real men who seek clothes not costumes.” This is how Burg&Schild describe their business themselves. The name of the shop is an abbreviation of the last names of owners Shane Brandenburg and Kay Knipschild. As one of the top 3 denim shops in Berlin, Burg&Schild ideal customer owns a motorcycle, wears black boots and never washes his jeans. Customers value their clothes for what they are not what the labels on them say, and they know that nothing feels better than a boot, a pair of jeans or a leather jacket that has been perfectly worn in.
