How to Be Successful on Instagram (with Koen Kuik)

I met Koen Kuik for the first time at the Amsterdam Denim Days event.

He and his friend Jeroen came up to me after a talk I’d given at Kingpins. They were starting their denim blog (Blue Roots Official) and wanted my advice. While I’m by no means an expert in WordPress, I happily shared what I’d learned from the mistakes I’ve made over the years.

Now, the student had become the master. Koen had become my go-to guy for tips and tricks about Instagram.

Koen has a passion for Instagram that keeps him constantly up-to-date on what’s happening with the algorithm, new features and functionalities of the platform.

I’d invited Koen to join me at the latest Bluezone show in Munich. We sat down, together with Wouter from Long John, to talk about what’s up with Instagram, and tactics you should—and especially the ones you shouldn’t—follow if you’re aim is to be successful (which I guess it is for anyone?).

Watch the video above to learn some of Koen’s tricks. Oh, we also talk about the crazy Photoshopped images he posts on Instagram, which you can read more about in the Blue Blooded Instagrammer post #11 I did with him.

If you’d like Koen to help you improve your Instagram, you can reach out to him through his website.
