Video Q&A with Johannes Luttrén aka @sennah0j

We’ve already had a couple Q&As with some of the wonderful people I got to meet at the Amsterdam Denim Days last year. And here’s one with video ? Take it away, Johannes!

Name: Johannes Luttrén

Birth year: 1984

Location: Ljungby (Bollnäs every other weekend), Sweden

Profession: Carpenter

How Johannes Runs His Instagram Feed

Thomas: How did it all start with your Instagram feed?

Name: It all began when I was a stay home dad with my first son, Ebbot. And I finally had time to wear all my clothes. (Working as a carpenter in Sweden, you need to wear boring work wear.)

Around that time, I started following @andreasbergstron83 and @jasonvanpul, so I thought ‘if they can so can I.’

T: Why Instagram? What are your goals?

J: Taking photos is much easier than writing. It’s as simple as that.

I have no goals with this account. It’s just for fun, and if there’s anyone getting inspired by my outfit that’s just a bonus. I always said that when I can’t use my phone to take my shots I’ll quit.

T: How much time do you spend on Instagram on a daily basis?

J: Apparently too much. My phone says one thing, my head says another. According to my phone, it’s around 2-2.5 hours a day.

T: How do you take your photos?

J: I use my phone (an iPhone X). Andreas has a friend (@claesklas) who lives in Stockholm and he has helped us with some photoshoots.

T: Which tools do you use?

J: I take most of my pictures by myself. Using a cheap tripod or simply sliding the phone into the door handle on my car.

T: What’s your editorial flow?

J: I only use the editing tools that’re built into Instagram.

T: What are your favourite locations to take photos? And why?

J: Against a wall, as most of us denim influencers. It looks good and usually there aren’t that many people running around in those areas.

Johannes’ Denim Style and Preferences

T: How did you get into denim?

J: I always loved denim and always wore jeans. I had a short period when I was 14-15 where I experimented with some other styles, but since then it’s been denim, denim, denim.

T: What’s your favourite feature of jeans?

J: The fact that you can wear them anywhere and anytime. To a wedding or when you sitting home watching tv. And yes, I do that—no sweat pants for me. And, of course, the journey from raw to faded.

T: How do you wash your denim?

J: I used to not wash my jeans. I thought it would take the “magic” away, but now I’m older and somewhat wiser and now I know better. I simply throw them in the washer and let it do its thing.

T: What’s your favourite fit?

J: I would say a slim tapered cut is the best for me. Love the fit on my Lee 101 Riders, they’re my absolute favourite.

T: Which boots and leather goods do you wear with your denim?

J: I wear my @redwingheritage Iron Rangers 8113 almost all the time. And always a @pigeeontreecrafting belt!

T: Which sneakers do you wear?

J: Vans Authentic most of the time. Have a pair of Chuck Taylor 70s too, don’t know why but they don’t get as much wear as they deserve.

T: Favourite item that’s not denim or leather?

J: A white T-shirt, simple as that.

T: Where do you buy your gear?

J: Since I live in a small town, I sadly have to buy most of my clothes online. Would love to buy more over the counter, but I can’t.

T: What styling tips would you give your followers if they wanted your style?

J: Well, I guess jeans, a white tee and an overshirt will do the trick. Wear what you feel comfortable in. That’s my secret … (well, that was my secret).
