Japan is where much of the raw denim world begins, but it’s far from the only reason to pay attention to Asia-Pacific. Across Australia, Southeast Asia, Taiwan, and beyond, you’ll find retailers that have built strong local scenes around Japanese denim, heritage menswear, boots, and workwear.

About Shopping Online in the Asia-Pacific Region

Buying from Asia-Pacific usually means placing an international order—unless you’re buying domestically from a shop in your own country. That makes customs, duties, taxes, handling fees, and return costs especially important to check before you buy.

PPHH Store (Melbourne)

riginally known as Pickings and Parry, PPHH Store is a long-standing Melbourne destination for Japanese denim, heritage menswear, quality footwear, and thoughtfully curated brands from around the world—including selvedge denim for women.

Urahara (Melbourne)

Born from the former Godspeed shop, Urahara mixes Japanese selvedge, motorcycle-ready clothing, and repairs-for-life with Godspeed now living on as its in-house label.

Urban Lupe (Melbourne)

A carefully curated menswear shop with a knack for finding brands you don’t see everywhere, backed up by repairs, alterations, and free hemming.

HONG KONG

Take5 (Hong Kong and Taipei)

A titan of Asian denim retail since 2000, founded to bring Japanese amekaji to fans who previously had to travel to Japan to experience it. Still known for deep stock, expert service, and shop-exclusive collaborations.

INDONEDIA

Limbro Denim (Jakarta and Surabaya)

Indonesia’s main raw denim and heritage retail network, with mall stores that make serious Japanese denim feel unusually accessible rather than hidden away for insiders.

JAPAN

BEARS’ (Tokyo)

A packed second-floor shop in Shimokitazawa with one of those Japanese denim brand lists that makes international buyers wonder how much they can fit in a suitcase.

Denimio (Yokohama)

The Japanese denim warehouse shop turned global e-commerce gateway, built around domestic-Japan pricing and a brand list that shows they know the market inside out.

Junky Special (Tokyo)

A packed Shinjuku amekaji shop built around the Toyo Enterprise universe, with military wear, denim, and Americana stacked floor to ceiling. The staff also claim to know where to find the best ramen in Kabukichō. I believe them.

Okayama Denim (Tokyo)

Born from Merv Sethi’s 2011 post-earthquake bracelet project, Okayama Denim became one of the main gateways to Japanese denim for international buyers.

Sun House (Tokyo, Japan)

The more eclectic sibling to Hinoya, blending amekaji foundations with outdoor, contemporary, and fashion-forward Japanese brands.
