Jaesung’s Instagram Routines and How He Got Started

Thomas: How did it all start with your Instagram feed?

Jaesung: In 2012, I started using Instagram as a means of posting my favourite punk and hardcore recordings. Sometimes, I also uploaded landscape photos and my daily look. Since then, I have started putting up pictures on my clothes.

T: Why Instagram?

J: On Instagram, you can easily see what you want. You can also communicate with people form around the world with similar interests, and you can see tons of pictures based your favourite interests.

When I first started, I did Facebook and Tumblr. Now, I’m not doing either anymore.

T: How much time do you spend on Instagram on a daily basis?

J: I don’t really know how much. It seems to be mainly when I’m on breaks.

T: How do you take your photos?

J: Most of the time, I shoot the pictures myself. With a tripod.

T: Which tools do you use?

J: Just my iPhone and tripod.

T: What’s your editorial flow?

J: I don’t particularly care about how I plan out my content. I just post one picture a day.

T: What are your favourite locations to take photos? And why?

J: I usually take my pictures from the rooftop wall of my house. I do it before or after work, when I’m not interrupted.

Jaesung’s Denim Style and Preferences

T: How did you get into denim?

J: I do not know. I think I liked jeans ever since I was a kid. When I was a kid, I saw lots of pictures in jeans and jeans. Rock bands and movie stars wearing them, and toughness and freedom were always connected to denim.

I have been wearing a lot of brands like Levi’s and Lee, and in 2012 I came to know more about Japanese denim, raw and selvedge denim, and now I pay more attention to details such as fabric, fit, and quality.

T: What’s your favourite feature of jeans?

J: The look of the denim as you wear it. Especially raw denim and selvedge denim.

T: How do you wash your denim?

J: I don’t wash that often, and only when they’re dirty.

T: What’s your favourite denim brand?

J: Rogue Territory.

T: What’s your favourite fit? And why?

J: RGT’s Stanton. Skinny fits don’t look good on me. I can wear them, but they’re quite uncomfortable. For me, a slim straight fit is easy going, and Rogue Territory’s fit me well.

T: Which boots and leather goods do you wear with your denim?

J: My boots are mostly Red Wing, but I also own Chippewas and Vibergs.

For bags, I prefer Bleu De Chauffe; for wallets and belts is Ewing Dry Goods; and I have a bracelet from 877workshop.

T: Which sneakers do you wear?

J: Converse 70’s, New balance 574/770, Nike Killshot, and Vans.

T: Favourite item that’s not denim or leather?

J: Silver rings and bracelet and brass keychain from 877workshop.

T: Where do you buy your gear?

J: I usually buy online. I also then to buy more from overseas stores than domestic ones.

T: What styling tips would you give your followers if they wanted your style?

J: Style can be very personal or very popular. But it’s important to find a style that suits you well. To do so, it’s a good idea to try various of the styles you see on Instagram. Then you’ll find your style.
