The Nineteenth Episode of The Denim & Boots Podcast

In the news section of last week’s episode #18 with @denimhound, I told you about a documentary series, where Scott Morrison from 3×1 travels around the world searching for the roots of denim.

This week on the show, we are joined by Scott to talk about how his story lead him to create the series, and what he learned from it.

Scott’s been part of the denim business since the late 90s. He’s founded the brands Paper Denim & Cloth and Earnest Sewn, in 1999 and 2004, respectively.

But it was his third and current brand, 3×1, that really put him on the global denim map. Famously known for its in-store glass-encased jeans atelier, located in the heart of Soho in New York City, 3×1 makes high-end luxury jeans.

It’s not a heritage brand. It’s not trying to be. The styling is contemporary and minimalistic. And the ready-to-wear collection is mostly made from stretch (selvedge) denim and includes several pre-washed jeans.

But make no mistake, 3×1 is a denim brand through and through. The store has the world’s biggest selection of different denims on stock that you can choose from for the bespoke jeans they offer.
